Star 4 Women-Skilled Trades Awareness And Readiness


YWCA Toronto is funded by Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC) to bring you a unique, women and gender-diverse training program. The Skilled Trades 4-Women provides a comprehensive program with a combination of vocational assessment and skilled trades career exploration. It will include access to health and safety certifications, skills training, hands-on experience, and engagement and networking opportunities with employers, unions, colleges, and trainers in the skilled trades industry, particularly in the construction and industrial sectors.

  • Academic Upgrading (if applicable)

  • Health and Safety Training and Certifications

  • Job Preparedness

  • Labour Market Information about skilled trades

  • Hands on experience with equipment and tools

  • Support and assistance with skilled trades pathways and opportunities

  • Work boots and safety equipment

  • Transportation support (restrictions apply)

  • Women and gender diverse people, 16 years and older

  • Minimum grade 10 education

  • Resident of and able to work in Ontario

  • Willing and able to commit to an 8-week training program

  • Possess or be eligible to obtain a valid driver’s license

  • Physically able to work in a variety of construction work environments 

Program Start Date: Monday June 6, 2022 & Monday September 12, 2022
