Elm Centre

YWCA Toronto Elm Centre includes 300 units of permanent housing for three different residents groups: 165 affordable rental units, 50 units for Indigenous women, gender diverse people and their dependents (including 10 families fleeing violence), and 85 units for women and gender diverse people with mental health or concurrent mental health and substance use needs.

YWCA Toronto Elm Centre also offers market rental housing to women, gender diverse people and their dependents. Our Elizabeth Street facility features  Junior 1, 1, 2, and 3-bedroom apartments with front desk support staff, yoga room, rooftop terrace and courtyard with green space, all conveniently located downtown close to TTC.

Women, gender diverse people and their dependents who have a modest income and wish to live in a building for women and gender diverse people and be part of building a healthy community. Applicants must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or refugee claimant.

Step 1:
All applicants for Affordable Housing must have status in Canada as a citizen, permanent resident or refugee claimant. Gross annual household income must not exceed certain limits so please refer to the chart below. Applicants are invited to download and complete an application form which can be forwarded to Housing Intake (housingintake@ywcatoronto.org).

Step 2:
Applicants will receive an acknowledgement within 10 business days and their name will be placed on the wait list.

Step 3:
When a unit becomes available, applicants will be invited for a tour (in the order applications were received) and provided with forms to verify household income.

Step 4:
A landlord reference and credit check are the final steps to determine if the application is approved.
