Elm Centre

YWCA Toronto Elm Centre includes 300 units of permanent housing for three different residents groups: 165 affordable rental units, 50 units for Indigenous women and their families (including 10 women-led families fleeing violence), and 85 units for women with mental health or concurrent mental health and substance use needs.

YWCA Toronto Elm Centre also offers market rental housing to women and women-led families. Our Elizabeth Street facility features  Junior 1, 1, 2, and 3-bedroom apartments with front desk support staff, yoga room, rooftop terrace and courtyard with green space, all conveniently located downtown close to TTC.

Single women and women with children who have a modest income and wish to live in a building for women and be part of building a healthy community. Applicants must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or refugee claimant.

Step 1:
All applicants for Affordable Housing at the Elm Centre must have status in Canada as a citizen, permanent resident or refugee claimant. Your eligibility will then be determined by household income.. Please refer to the income chart below. Applicants who meet household income eligibility criteria are invited to download and complete the application form. Send the application to the Intake Coordinator (see contact details below.) We will contact applicants in 10 business days to confirm that the application has been received.

Step 2:
The application will be reviewed and placed on a wait list if the applicant is eligible.

Step 3:
When YWCA Toronto Elm Housing’s affordable apartments are available, we will contact applicants (in the order in which applications were received) to set up a unit tour and review the application.

Step 4:
Once the applicant has met with Housing Intake and all of the criteria have been met, she will be offered an apartment and provided with a move in date. Applicants must notify the Housing Intake if their circumstances have changed or if they no longer wish to live at the YWCA Toronto Elm Housing.
