30 Capstan Gate, Units 4 and 5, Concord, ON L4K 3E8

We would suggest that you attend an information session in person before you apply for a seat in the training program – see next tab Information Sessions for dates and locations near you. Attending an information session would give you an opportunity to meet YWCA Toronto staff and ask questions that may help you decide if the training program is the right fit for you.

If attending an information session in person is not feasible at this time, we encourage you review the presentation Outreach Presentation: Terrazzo, Tile & Marble Pre-Apprenticeship Training Program found below in the Downloads section before you apply. The presentation will provide you with detailed information and help you decide if you want to apply.

If you decide to apply, please print and fill out the application form (Application Form: Terrazzo, Tiles and Marble Setter Pre-Apprenticeship Training Program) found in the Downloads section of this page and bring it to your testing and interview appointment. You will find further information on how and where to apply in the Application, Testing & Interview Sessions tab below.

Applicants to the Terrazzo, Tile and Marble Setter Pre-Apprenticeship Training program will have to complete a basic numeracy/math and English comprehensive test* followed by a short interview with a YWCA Toronto Job Coach/Job Developer. During this interview you will have an opportunity to discuss your specific needs, or fears (if any) or the expectations you may have about the program.

*Important information about the math test – please do not let anxiety over the math test stop you from considering applying to this program. We have learned that many of our candidates have been out of school for a while and  benefit from an academic refresher. To meet this need, we have incorporated two weeks of numeracy/math and English comprehension upgrading as part of the curriculum. The upgrading has proven to be sufficient for all previous participants in this program. Should the numeracy/math requirements cause you anxiety, please talk to the Job Coach/Job Developer and she will help assess your needs.
