Description:
National Canadian Film Day celebrates the creativity and achievements of Canadian filmmakers. Hollywood films may be popular, but nothing compares to the connection of watching stories from our own communities.
On April 15th, participants are invited to a screening of The Grizzlies (2019). Based on a true story, the film follows Inuit youth in a small Arctic town who discover hope, teamwork and personal growth through a lacrosse program. It explores themes of resilience, community, mentorship and overcoming challenges.
Participants will have the opportunity to:
- Watch a celebrated Canadian film;
- Reflect on themes of resilience, teamwork and community;
- Discuss the real-life story behind the film; and,
- Connect with others in a shared viewing experience.
This event will be held in-person at the JUMP Scarborough Office.
Spaces are limited and will be given on a first-come, first served basis.
