Thank you for your interest in supporting YWCA Toronto! We rely on the passion and special skills of our amazing volunteers in order to serve the 11,000 disadvantaged women and children we do yearly. When you volunteer your time and efforts with YWCA Toronto, you help to transform the lives of our participants and create lasting change in your community.

Volunteers at YWCA Toronto work in partnership with staff in many different areas to achieve our mission, from program support to administrative assistance, to hands-on event opportunities. Placements are available throughout the city at our 12 locations and may be long or short-term.

Join our volunteer email list by filling out the volunteer inquiry form. When new opportunities arise, we will email you a brief description, including the location and time commitment required.


How to Apply

  • If a volunteer opportunity in one of our emails appeals to you, send a reply to our Volunteer Coordinator, Dvorah Silverman at, indicating which position you are interested in. Please attach a resume if you have one. We will send you a more detailed position description at that time.
  • The Volunteer Coordinator will then connect you with the supervisory staff of that particular location to set up an interview.
  • Once selected for the position, you will be sent a volunteer package including the following forms to fill out the following:
    • formal volunteer application which requires two reference names and contact information,
    • volunteer service agreement,
    • confidentiality form,
    • Police Records Check for Vulnerable Sector Screening.

Group Volunteer Opportunities

Group volunteers are people who represent a corporate or community organization and give back to the community through volunteer initiatives with YWCA Toronto. If you are interested in participating in a group volunteer activity, please email Dvorah Silverman at with the following information:

  • The number of volunteers in your group.
  • The dates and times you are available to volunteer.
  • Your preferred location.
  • Your area of interest.
  • Any specials skills that your group can share.

Please provide us with at least 6 weeks notice if you have a particular day for your volunteer activity.

Student Placement Opportunities
