Partner with YWCA Toronto

YWCA Toronto maintains and fosters partnerships and business relationships with education institutions, community organizations, advocacy groups and umbrella organizations. Each relationship is valuable and we are grateful to our partners for their trust and loyalty. Consider collaborating with us for employment and training projects. Discover how others have benefited from a partnership with YWCA Toronto.

YWCA Toronto has been offering a Pre-Apprenticeship General Carpentry program for women in partnership with George Brown College. The collaboration resulted from both partners’ resolve to see more women enter the trades sector and the partnership works well because both agencies are experts in different areas.  YWCA Toronto ensures the women have the support they need before, during and after the training program and George Brown College provides experienced teachers and state of the art facilities and equipment.

Graduates from the program obtain Level 1 certification training in General Carpentry from George Brown College and YWCA Toronto negotiates job placements lasting between 8 to 12 weeks with employers –who may hire  the women full time  and /or offer them full apprenticeships.

Everyone wins from this partnership but most of all the women who are able to enter a male-dominated sector and strengthen their earning power with a lucrative job.

YWCA Toronto and Urban Circle Training Centre Inc. in Winnipeg have had a training partnership for the delivery of Life Skills Coach Training services since 2004. Urban Circle and YWCA Toronto invested in the training and mentoring of one of their staff to become a Coach Trainer to deliver the YWCA Toronto Life Skills Coach training curriculum to their clients and community members.

Today, Urban Circle runs Life Skills Coach training sessions in Winnipeg and retains revenue from each training session.  The partnership ensures the quality standards of the YWCA Toronto Life Skills Coach curriculum, facilitates affordable access to the training for people in Winnipeg and reduces both agencies’ costs of travelling. A win-win situation for all parties involved.

YWCA JUMP Etobicoke and Achēv, formerly The Centre for Education and Training (TCET) have developed a partnership to deliver itinerant settlement services to newcomer women and youth in Malton, Brampton and Mississauga. TCET provides the location and YWCA JUMP offers our signature training programs in Customer Service, Cash Register Training, Career Cruising and Personality Dimensions for newcomer women. The partnership benefits the communities in the area and has proven particularly advantageous to newcomer women eager to learn new or additional skills to enter the Canadian labour market. The leadership taken by both agencies in this partnership has demonstrated Acheve's commitment to the communities they serve and YWCA Toronto’s resolve to find new venues and opportunities to be a turning point in the lives of women and girls.
