Architectural Glass and Metal Technician (Glazier)

YWCA Toronto is funded by the Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development (MLTSD) and has partnered with the Finishing Trades Institute (FTI) and the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades (IUPAT) to bring you a unique, women and gender diverse people focused pre-apprenticeship training program to become an Architectural Glass and Metal Technician (Glazier).

  • Women and gender diverse people focused pre-apprenticeship

  • Academic upgrading (math, English, and essential skills for the trade)

  • Safety training and equipment

  • Level 1 Certification

  • Job readiness training

  • Up to eight weeks placement experience after training is completed

  • Supportive, highly-skilled, certified instructors

  • Provide basic work tools and textbooks

  • Public transportation support (if applicable)

  • Ongoing support from YWCA Toronto staff

  • Women and gender diverse people, 16 years and older

  • Minimum grade 10 education

  • Resident of and able to work in Ontario 

  • Possess or be eligible to obtain a valid driver’s license

  • Physically able to work in a variety of construction work environments

  • Possess appropriate hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
