Residential AC System Mechanic


YWCA Toronto has partnered with the Ontario Women’s Directorate and George Brown College to bring you a unique, 24-week women-only pre-apprenticeship training program to become a Residential Air Conditioning Systems Mechanic. Join a growing sector in the construction industry.

Women will receive academic upgrading, Level 1 certification and hands-on experience through a work placement. The skilled trades offer lucrative careers, good wages, opportunities for self-employment, flexible hours and a steady demand in the labour market.

  • Certified instructors

  • Transportation supports

  • Basic work tools

  • Safety training and equipment

  • Textbooks

  • Refresher math

  • Women-only learning environment

  • Women, 16 years and older

  • Resident of and able to work in Ontario

  • Minimum grade 12 math and English or equivalency

  • Possess or be eligible to obtain a valid driver’s license

  • Physically able to work in a variety of construction work environments

  • Low-income eligibility criteria

  • Willing and able to commit to a 24-weeks intensive training program

Program start date: Monday, April 3, 2017.
