Nominations for the 2010 Awards are now closed
The Young Woman of Distinction is a young woman between the ages of 16 to 30 who volunteers her time, inspires other women and girls, and is a role model to her peers.
The Young Woman of Distinction Award includes a grant from the Julia M. Ruby Fund to support educational pursuits, or opportunities that will enhance the recipients's capacity for future leadership.
Previous Young Women of Distinction include Justine Blainey who led
the way for young women wishing to play hockey in the men’s league, Andrea Ou-Hingwan who started a Lupus support group for young people
and Chi Nguyen who was involved in the publication of 'The
Little Black Book', a book about healthy sexuality written by girls for
girls.
