The eight women honoured provide us all with a wonderful example of the impact even just one person can make in the life of another. With your support, close to $800,000 was raised to fund critical YWCA programs in our city such as shelters, employment assistance and teen parenting. We hope you enjoyed the evening, as you helped the YWCA help the most vulnerable women and girls across the GTA. The YWCA Women of Distinction Awards is the YWCA's most critical fundraising event, supporting more than 40 YWCA programs across Toronto, helping women and girls achieve equality, economic sustainability and lives free from violence. The first and preeminent award for women in a number of YWCA communities across Canada, the YWCA Women of Distinction Awards inspire others to achieve by recognizing the leadership of women in a variety of arenas. Whether recognized while at the top of their filed, or highlighted as someone to watch for, the YWCA Toronto's Women of Distinction have brought key issues facing Canadian women to the forefront.
