Turning Point Partners

"we need to change mindsets, not regimes."

Azar Nafisi, celebrated women’s rights advocate and author of Reading Lolita in Tehran, delivered an impassioned examination of women’s rights in Iran and western countries to an engaged gathering of YWCA Turning Point Partners and supporters on June 16. Drawing upon a rich historical landscape of strong women, Nafisi defended the right of every woman to make her own choices, regardless of faith or cultural background.

Board President Dr. Kristin Blakely-Kozman recognized new and continuing Turning Point Partners in attendance, Janine Kovach, Noella Milne, Dale Pratt, Donna Saull representing the Canadian Maple Wings Association and Danuta Markiewicz representing The Paloma Foundation. YWCA Toronto is grateful to Alan and Delarom Pourvakil of W Studio for their gracious hospitality and beautiful venue. (120)
