ywca elm centre : fundraising success to date

green, affordable, supportive

Of the $80 million total project cost, $34 million has been confirmed from the three levels of government and we are grateful for their leadership support.

Province of Ontario: $14 million YWCA Elm Centre
Federal Government: $11.5 million
City of Toronto: $8.5 million
Private Funding: $4.3 million to date

In acknowledgement of its commitment to the development of affordable housing and YWCA Toronto as the successful proponent to develop the property, the City of Toronto has generously provided the land to YWCA Toronto on a 50-year less a day lease for the nominal fee of $1 and is waiving municipal fees and charges that total more than $5 million.

The YWCA is responsible for the balance of $46 million, and this amount will be managed through a combination of private donations and financing.

Our capital campaign fundraising goal is $15 million.

While a formal capital campaign has yet to commence, we are fortunate to have secured close to $4.3 million toward this project, including our first $1,000,000 private donation from Senator Nancy Ruth – the largest single donation received by YWCA Toronto to date, as well as a private bequest of $600,000, a $500,000 commitment from the Rotary Club of Toronto, commitment from Wigwamen Incorporated, The Jean Tweed Centre and additional personal and corporate donations including 60% of YWCA Toronto’s staff, providing a strong foundation for future leadership donations.
