tapawingo history

camp tapawingo logoThe Eaton family originally owned the property and donated it to the YWCA in 1929. We began operating from that site in 1930. The original building (White Cottage) is still in use.

In 1974-1975 a portion of the facility was winterized to allow for year round use by rental groups, local community groups and YWCA operated weekends. This allows us to accommodate 42 people in electrically heated cabins.

go to alumni photo gallerySince the 1990s, we have operated in three seasons, focusing on summer camp, as well as spring and fall programming.

Many of our alumni remain active in the life of camp and, in fact, we presently have third-generation campers.

We invite Tapawingo alumni to contact us for information on our upcoming events in 2009, or to receive our regular alumni newsletters.
