Parenting After Abuse


YWCA Toronto Here to Help is a free 12-week parenting program in south Scarborough for children 4-16 years of age and their mothers/gender diverse parents who have been exposed to abuse. We support children and their mothers/gender diverse parents through the healing process.

Children 4-18 years of age and their mothers/gender diverse parents who have been exposed to abuse.

  • A comfortable, compassionate, safe place for children to learn they are not alone.    

  • Theme based art, games, stories and discussion activities to support children in sharing their feelings. 

  • Opportunities for children to learn they are not responsible for the abuse that happened in their family.

  • Information on how children may be impacted by their exposure to abuse.

  • Information and support on how to support their children’s emotional healing.

  • Positive ways for dealing with the challenges of parenting children who have witnessed abuse.

  • Ongoing, regular telephone contact with program staff.
